Funnier than a cardiac arrest. This is basically a useless thread but I'm bored as beans and need a girlfreind before my arm falls off. I also read "Hit and Run" recently, which, if you don't know, is the story of Jon Peters, the insane producer whom Kevin talks about with such animosity. I still can't believe it wasn't fictitious; the fact that an illiterate hairdresser who had sex with Barbara Striesand has a better shot of making it than I do is a very frightening thought indeed. Maybe I should go into advertising.

This is an indispensible DVD. It's one I can watch over and over again, even though it's nearly 4 hours long.

I don't know why, but when KS laughs at that guy doing the Kermit impression, I cack myself laughing.

    Live and learn, I guess.

"How can I raise money for my independent movie?"
    "Head works real well."

While Smith certainly had some negative comments reserved for Burton, the proverbial fanboy never actually criticized him for plagarizing Chasing Dogma in order to neccesitate one of the most asinine endings ever seen in a feature film; he simply stated that it was a bizzare coincidence and, after Burton heard about it, he was infuriated and the entire incident was blown out of proportion.

And, much like you have the right to say that Kevin Smith's films suuck, Kevin Smith has the right to say that Tim Burton's films suuck. That's what makes living in a democracy so great (well, for the time being, anyways).

As for Superman Lives, it was a bad idea from day one:

"Kevin, what you don't seem to understand is that this is a corporate movie. It doesn't matter how good the dialogue between Lois and Superman is; it's about how many toys we can sell."

Kevin Smith directed two nice (but not so funny) comedies, "Clerks" and "Chasing Amy" then he collected one flop after other: Mallrats, Jay & Silent Bob and Dogma, wich came out recently in my country, and i discovered it's the WORST movie ever made.

I'm not a comic book fan so i'm not able to comment his work on this side, but certanly he doesn't have the right to tell that Tim Burton stole from his comic books the ending of Planet of the Apes.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">this is, of course, your opinion on the ending of the film. I personally liked it, 'cause i remeber me thinking 'Man, i didn't get it at all, but it was f.ucking amazing!'.

As for the Superman Lives thing, i don't think Tim Burton is the kind of corporation that deserves this kind of comments.

Well Kevin Smith may have wirte some good stuff for it, but the fact is when two director's visions doesn't match the better for the film is just breaking the relationship and on this side i suppose Tim got it quite well.

The problem wasn't just the studio's obsession with merchandising; the directors, writers, and producers just didn't care about the movie at all.

Jon Peters wanted to make Batman again.

Tim Burton wanted to make Batman again.

The studio wanted to gain $500 million in merchandising revenue.

Smith's script wasn't very good anyways.

I'm not a superhero fan by any stretch of the imagination, it's just that this particular tale fascinates me because it's a prime example of everything that is wrong with Hollywood.
